Woo-hoo - so many great answers! You'll have to allow me some time to respond to them all, on account of the holiday season
If you're looking for an investing book, I really like Irrational Exuberance. It's by Robert Shiller who won the Nobel Prize in Economics a few years ago. It's mostly about bubbles like the internet bubble, real estate, and some other ones in the past.
Thanks! I haven't heard of that one before but it sounds like it will be very educational.
I've listed just a few on our Recommendations page. I would call these the must-have books for inspiring my path to FIRE.
Perfect! I think the Suze Orman book is the only one I haven't read yet.
Probably a Swedish children's book called The Boy With The Gold Pants (roughly translated). About a boy who could magically pull 20 kroner bills from the pocket of his pants
Haha, that works for me. Tell me - why is this book so significant for you?
Not finance-related, but Julie of the Wolves, and anything by Gary Paulsen. They're what spurred me to move to Alaska and be a dogsled racer and wildlife biologist.
Of course, by the time I got to Alaska, I found out those books were total crap.
Oooooh - so adventure books, right? I'd love to pick one up! And wait - you race dogsleds?????
For me, The Alchemist was the book that changed everything!
OMG YESSSS! I love Paola Coelho - have you ever read Veronika Decides to Die? That's my favorite book of his, and - for me - that's pretty much the one that has changed my perspective on life. I have to re-read it every now and then, too.
