It was NZ $7.60 back in about 2005! I was at high school and got my 1st part time job … $8.50 an hour, thought i was raking it in!
As a waitress, I remember $2.15 plus tips. The $2.15 was under the minimum wage but I was supposed to make up for the rest in the tips.
$4.25 as a bagger/cart pusher/general cleaner upper at a grocery store. It was so fun. Stayed through high school, college (moved up to cashier for $8!) and while looking for a teaching job a couple years out of college.
I made $5.15 at my first summer job. I was an admin assistant at my local city hall.
Somewhere around $4/hr in 1995, and I pulled down minimum wage for a couple of years as a teenager.
I think it was $5.15 when I started working in a book store during high school.
$4.25. That’s what I made as a sophomore in a grocery store in 1992.
I’m not an hourly worker anymore, but if I do the math, I earn nearly that much per minute.
4.25 that’s what the movie theater paid me as an ushers. That and all the leftover popcorn.
CAD $8.25 in 2006. First job was at a drugstore as a cashier. Stayed there all though high school, and came back for one summer in university. I couldn’t resist the 10-second commute (it was literally across the street from my house). I think by the time I left I was making somewhere around CAD $11.50 per hour.
$5.15 / hour. My particular employer (Safeway) was offering $5.50 / hour. Score!
$4.25 an hour and I made $5.15 bussing tables plus tips. I was rolling in dough!!
I believe it was $3.35 an hour when I started as well. However, I felt very cool that I got $3.75 my first job and within a week got bumped to $3.85 an hour.
Gees, that’s more than you’re making NOW!
Ha! I know. Life is so unfair.
It was $5.15 per hour when I started but increased to over $6 per hour the next year. My job paid slightly above minimum wage. But when I was in high school, it seemed like I struck gold.
Yeah, but your current hours are pretty sweet! Nice pics from Tahoe, BTW.
My very first job was working at my mom’s physio clinic and I got paid $5/hour, but it was under the table so tax free I started there when I was 14 and kept it as a part-time job right through university…much better than flipping burgers!
$13/hour was my first minimum wage job (San Francisco!) I beat everyone by a mileeeee
I was 16 years old and I started at Burger King. They paid me $5.30, but minimum wage was $5.15 in 2000.
My first job in the States paid me $15/hr it was 4 years ago. But my very-very first job, back in the Motherland, was about 300 rub/day, it’s about $6 now
