I totally agree. At 61, I am ashamed to admit I have only worked this out in the last year or two, Much of what I have is unnecessary. So now, before I buy anything, I ask myself a few questions
- will I use it regularly?
- will I love it for ever?
- if it got broken, lost, stolen, would I replace it immediately?
- If I moved into a trailer, would I keep it?
- If I bring a new 'thing' into my life, is there something that should leave my life at the same time?
I have loads of 'stuff' that I don't need, but it is perfectly serviceable, so I can't bear to throw it out. Also much of it has tangible memories attached to it.
So in the meantime, I am positively trying not to acquire more 'stuff', and slowly reduce what I do have....But it's a long road!
