I thought I’d throw this out to the community to see what others think. Here goes…
The 401k from my former employer is currently with Vanguard and is a mixture of company stock & various mutual funds.
My wife’s has been using Edward Jones since before we met. They only do advisor-managed investments.
I am considering moving my 401k from Vanguard to Edward Jones, but, I have one primary hesitation. Fees.
I have my money divided into 4 index funds with Expense Ratios that range from .07% to .18%, plus the company stock (36% of the portfolio) doesn’t charge any fees.
If I roll over to Edward Jones, they charge 1.35% annualized for the year.
Mostly I am wondering how many people have managed accounts (Edward Jones testimonials is appreciated) and if the slightly higher fee is worth the tradeoff to have a brokerage advisor. I have asked the advisor to provide a sample portfolio so I can compare what new funds the money might be invested in instead.
