This is very true! At first, I couldn't find anyone to talk to offline. I would bring different topics to light like you said whenever possible.
Then, I started joining some Facebook groups about money and started chiming in with answers to help others that were seeking. It seems that you can spend a TON of time answering questions in groups like that.
After I started seeing some recurring themes in those groups, it helped me decide to start my blog and write up answers to the frequent questions I was seeing asked. As I started doing that and sharing it on my main facebook feed, more and more people started approaching me offline to ask questions.
It's really amazing how many people just lurk and read in the background for quite some time before ever saying anything to you. Or when they do talk to you, they will bring up some obscure thing that you did when you thought no one was paying attention and it changed a lot for them!
That's why even when we just focus on keeping our stuff in check and living what we talk about, people are paying attention... most times they want to see it successful before they will really start to ask!
All I can say is keep it up and keep your nose to the grindstone!
