Hey @10_rocks, I enjoyed your stock series. I currently do most of my investing in low cost Index Funds. It seems that most of the FIRE community is in agreement that this is the way to go. Nobody consistent beats the market, right!?
This got me thinking more about allocating some of my money into some dividend aristocrat stocks. I'm looking at the Dividend Aristocrat Historical Performance chart you put up and it's quite impressive as to how much better these stocks have done.
Do you know what data was used to create that chart? Is it based off of the SDY index fund? I pulled the SDY, VTSAX and the S&P500 into Morningstar to compare and it looks like the fund is up a little bit, primarily from 2016. I like the idea of owning several dividend aristocrats in my portfolio (outside of the index fund, of course), but why don't many of the personal finance bloggers recommend it. Any thoughts on this is appreciated!
