I wish I had found this forum a long time ago! A little about me... Born and raised in the beautiful seacoast town of Portsmouth, NH. I did my Undergrad at the University of New Hampshire studying Business and Politics. I’ve always been fascinated by the intersection of the two fields. Living in New Hampshire, near friends and family, I said I’d never leave; but that all changed when the only job that I could find after graduation was in Massachusetts. This was July of 2008 – we had just bailed out Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and it was a tough time for anyone trying to get a job – let alone someone with a Finance degree and zero work experience. Kudos to my old boss and State Street Bank for taking a flyer on me.
I’ve worked in Financial Services since – starting first in the back office at State Street, then into the middle office doing investment management and research with a small institutional manager, then into wealth management strategy with Merrill Lynch before branching out on my own. Having experience in the back, middle, and front office has given me well rounded perspective on how the whole system works.
In August of 2016 I started building a new personal finance tool I call Exact Finance. I was a huge Mint.com fan for a long time but my needs grew beyond just budgeting and what the tool could offer. I was also (and still am) pretty annoyed with all the irrelevant ads. My only goal at the time was to provide financial planning and investment management for a close group of my friends. I was still working my corporate job full-time and never had intentions of leaving. As more and more people started asking me for help with their finances I realized this could be more than just a hobby. I left my job in April to build Exact Finance full-time and that brings me to today!
Nice to meet you all. Check out my site and let me know what you think. I'm constantly looking for feedback.
