Hey everybody! My name's Dave, I run a blog called Married With Money. The name is kind of a rip off of the TV show Married with Children - except me and my fiancee (married in less than a week!) have made the conscious decision to not have children.
We live in Minnesota and are pretty average people. Nothing overly special or unique about us. We don't have high paying jobs, we don't practice extreme frugality...we just have good heads on our shoulders and I love sharing my philosophies on things like finances and careers in general on our blog, particularly how it relates to younger people and couples. Our net worth is decent but behind where I'd like. I see blogging as a way to express my thoughts on these things and also a way to keep us honest with ourselves and each other.
I've been writing for a couple months and really enjoy the experience. If I could turn it into a full-time gig that paid as well as my normal 8-5 I would.
We've had some friends who have made some financial decisions that we both consider to be very foolish, so in part I'm blogging as a way to just extend some knowledge, too.
I'd love to retire early and we'll work toward that over the years, but for now just maintaining a steady pace and making progress toward that objective is our goal!
I toyed with the idea of a personal finance blog back in 2008 but got burned out after not getting many readers. Wish I'd stuck with it then, but oh well. Second time works! Worst part about it TBH was the name (My Two Cents) was great.
I read a handful of various PF blogs but haven't hung out or lurked much on these forums as of yet. Looking forward to the conversations here!
