I’m considering home ownership, but have a goal of putting a 50% down payment. This will take 3-5 years to save up. By the time I have the down-payment I’ll need to decide where to retire. I want the home paid off by retirement.
As for income streams, I just now got to the point where I can actually begin investing beyond the usual tax advantaged retirement accounts, so am definitely excited to explore those options. Additionally, I’m considering Ye Olde Side Hustle. I’m an artist and have been doing that work as a hobby for the past 20 years (complete studio setup in the dining room of my apartment). Am researching how to leverage that as a side-gig/post retirement career.
As always, I lurk here in the forums to soak up all the good insights and stories shared by the great people here on Rock Star.
As an aside, I just tried out the Personal Capital site and must say I’m impressed. Def will do some more work in it as I really like the dashboards and cross-linked accounts. Also, opened an Investor account with Vanguard today. Will start shoveling any spare $$ for the rest of the year into that account (including what I can’t put into 401k/Roth).
