Hey gang, curious what you are all using for back-ups and if you’ve ever had issues where restore was needed? Thanks!
I se BackupBuddy. It’s a paid service but I’ve been pretty happy with it (and used it when I migrated hosting providers, so have a pretty good level of confidence that it’s working as intended).
I use @Grayson’s monthly Wordpress maintenance program and he manages backups. No need to restore yet, but love how hands off it is for me!
Plus, he consistently saves me from my own technological stupidity…
I use UpdraftPlus. Free and very good.
I use BackWPup and have it linked to a Dropbox account specifically for my website - I’ve never had to use it though, so I can’t speak to ease of use or how well it works!
Edit: I use the free version, and Dropbox is free too!
I do this also, but I also save a word document with all my posts. If I loose it all I am going to be quite sad, but at least there is a double back up.
I second updraft plus. Just sends me an email with the backup files every week
Thanks everyone for your help! I went with Updraft Plus - was easy to set up and I like the Dropbox coupling.
I realize too late for the conversation, but perhaps worth considering if anyone else stops by with the question:
Amazon S3. You AWS EC2 VM can be automagically backed up for pretty short money.
Free version of Updraft allows backup to Dropbox and other cloud storage, a really nice feature that most alternatives charge for. I’ve also actually restored from a backup with Updraft before, and it was super-easy.
Thanks Steven! This is actually the option I chose.
